Why this site exists
Traditional toy crafts are quietly disappearing. Global mass production has captured most of the modern toy market, and many living folk-toy traditions — some of them running unbroken for 400 or 500 years — now depend on a few hundred artisans in a handful of villages. This site is a place where those traditions can be seen together, understood, and — if you want to — supported by direct purchase.
What we host, what we don't
We host the cultural information: the tradition, the region, the technique, the living workshops. We do not host product listings, seller directories, price data, or any commercial content. All of that flows through Google AI Mode links — you tap, and Google fetches the current picture. This keeps the information fresh and avoids the site becoming a stale catalogue.
The name
Khilonas (खिलौने) is the Hindi word for "toys". The site was founded by an Indian domain investor and web publisher with 25 years of experience in the space. The name is Indic; the scope is the whole world.
